Hull City Council
Hull City Council is the governing body for the city of Kingston upon Hull. It was created in 1972.
Councilors
Today, Hull City Council consists of 57 councilors and has several subcomponents that perform different tasks:
- Cabinet (makes most day-to-day decisions);
- Cabinet Committees: The Cabinet appoints councilors to Cabinet Committees to handle specific responsibilities, such as granting of contracts above a certain monetary value;
- Task Groups (deal with specific issues);
- Area committees (responsible for different geographic areas of the city);
- Regulatory Committees (planning, licensing, school government, standards, civic affairs);
- Overview and Scrutiny Committees (hold public hearings into issues of local concern).
