Interim guidance on FMD alerts

Interim guidance on FMD alerts

February 15, 2019

Whilst in the initial phase of Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) implementation, many “false positive” alerts are expected. This does not necessarily indicate a falsified medicine, and in most cases it will be appropriate to dispense the medicine, subject to the normal checks.

The UK FMD Working Group for Community Pharmacy has published interim guidance for pharmacy teams on dealing with FMD alert generated when products are scanned. All the latest information and resources on FMD are available at: fmdsource.co.uk
